BTC is realising what is anticipated to be one of the biggest investments in Slovenia in this and next year – BTC and SCT signed a contract to build the BTC Water Park – the investment is worth EUR 28 million
Črni kal, 2 October 2003
Today at Črni kal, BTC plc as the investor and SCT plc as the builder signed a contract to construct the BTC Water Park worth SIT 2.2 billion. Negotiations on the construction of the related swimming pools, installation works and the supply of internal fittings are taking place. This investment is worth a further SIT 2.5 billion.
The building of the BTC Water Park is one of the biggest investments to be made in Slovenia this year, with a total value of EUR 28 million.
The end of 2004 will be marked by Ljubljana’s first Water Park
BTC Water City will be built within BTC CITY, in the area surrounded by Kolosej, Millenium, and Bratislavska and Letališka streets. Construction is set to be completed by the end of 2004. The centre itself covers a gross surface area of 14,805 m2, being built over a total of 19,650 m2.
BTC Water City is a sports, entertainment and relaxation centre that features four complexes:
World of experiences, Children’s world, Sauna land and Thermal temple and Waterfall baths.
BTC City visitors will be able to spend their free time at the Water Park in the near future. Its architectural design is up-to-date and will offer a well-equipped place for rest made to help you relax, gather new strength and enjoy. It will contain 14 swimming pools, including three outdoor and three larger covered pools, and will offer loads of fun and entertainment (a wild river, a swimming pool with waves, a water cannon, toboggan slides and games for the youngest). Sauna land will offer a range of outdoor saunas designed as huts (similar to those found on Velika planina) and covered saunas (e.g. hamam, laconium, bio and herbal saunas…)
Sports, entertainment and relaxation centre
Children and adults or basically anyone seeking fun or addicted to adrenalin will enjoy BTC Water City. It will have a capacity to accept 4,000 visitors daily, in line with the growth of visitor numbers to BTC of 700,000 annually. At the time of writing BTC CITY has enjoyed 18 million visits since it opened, so the forecast growth in visitor numbers is not exaggerated.
Water City is designed as a centre with loads of both outdoor and covered space for relaxation. The outdoor thermal swimming pool will remind visitors of the Velika planina environment, with wine-related props and other points of interest.
The architectural plans were designed by the German architect Rudolf Wienands Ph.D., M.A., while the whole project’s documentation was prepared by Biro 71.
With the construction of Water City the area within BTC intended for sports, entertainment and relaxation will encompass 54,000 m2.
A detailed presentation of the Water City project will take place at a business conference expected to be held at the end of October.
