In this year’s contest “Best Slovenian Swimming Centre 2009”, which was held under the auspices of Alpe Adria Media Marketing company and the »Dobro jutro, Slovenija« (Good Morning, Slovenia) radio show, Atlantis Water City was awarded the title “Best Slovenian Swimming Centre 2009” in the category of water parks for the fifth year in a row. The contest lasted from April to mid-September, during which time a team from the above mentioned radio show visited many Slovenian swimming centres. Apart from that, voting was conducted via radio and television stations, text messaging, and  www.dj-slovenija.si web portal. More than 45,200 votes were received, which is 15,000 more than last year, and the votes went to 102 Slovenian swimming centres.

Best Slovenian swimming centres were evaluated and selected by their visitors. They were able to vote via eleven radio stations (Radio Odmev, Radio Koper, Radio SI, Radio Kranj, Radio Ptuj, Radio Bakla, Radio Zeleni val, Radio Štajerski val, Radio Alpski val, Radio Prlek, Radio Urban) or via participating web portals. Best swimming centres received their awards – mermaid crystal sculptures, which are unique products of Matjaž Bornšek, an artist from Izola – at the closing ceremony, which took place on 10th October at Terme Čatež health resort.

Atlantis Water City is one of the largest indoor water parks in Europe. It has 16 swimming pools (six large pools, four children’s pools and six special-purpose pools), which represent approximately 1,800 m2 of water surface, and 15 saunas (13 of them are thematic saunas). Furthermore, Atlantis Water City offers its visitors three thematic modules: Adventure World, Sauna Land and Thermal Temple, which are interconnected and spread over two floors. Each thematic module has its own architectural features and theme.
