The BTC’s 60th anniversary will be accompanied by a photographic exhibition that will take visitors on a journey through six decades of the Company’s development. The photographs show the story of the Company in progress, transforming from public warehouses in 1954 to a modern innovative city with over 21 millions of visitors each year. The exhibition will take place in the lobby of the Crystal Palace until May 12th, 2014.

The motto “For the Benefit of Future Generations” will mark the anniversary of the BTC Company, which enjoys the reputation of one of a few companies that have maintained positive business results during the economic crisis. Along with positive business results they have managed to leave a bright trail in culture, art, sports, education, science and other fields in Slovenia and in Europe. This has not happened over the night; the path of the Company’s progress extends sixty years into the past.

Since its beginnings the BTC Company has thoroughly modified and transformed its business. At first the Company was involved in storing and distributing goods, which led to their position of the largest European land terminal in the period between 1977 and 1987. In 1990 the Company transformed to a stock company and began intense restructuring and renovation works on more than 200,000 m2 of warehouse facilities in the same year. Gradually the Company evolved into the operator of the area.
In the past 20 years the BTC’s constant investments, improvements and innovative additions to the business contents have turned the Company into an open, dynamic, modern and successful corporation behind one of the largest European shopping, recreational and entertainment centres. The Company has developed into a unique incubator of companies, united in a homogenous area of the BTC City, with over 4,000 employees and a reputation of cooperating with most renowned top-quality companies in the world.

Prof. Peter Gabrijelčič, MSc, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana, commented on the development of the Company: “BTC City has become a modern European centre, offering balanced business and shopping services, which help develop entertainment and cultural aspects of life, bringing brightness to this area and at the same time enabling its future organic growth. The phenomenon of BTC City shows itself precisely in the coexistence and synergy with the city of Ljubljana and their growing partnership, manifested in co-shaping the modern urban image of Slovenian metropolis.”
On top of that, the BTC has always been a part of socially responsible projects, concerning humanitarian and ecological activities and care for the environment.
