The bikes in Sports Centre Millenium will be put to good use this weekend. “Another year has passed and we once again look forward to a day on the bike. I can’t wait to meet all of you who will keep me company and also help others,” said Marko Baloh, the man behind the idea and the key player of the 24-hour charity cycling event, in the days leading up to the event.

The marathon event will begin on Friday, 27th January, at 12 o’clock, and will last until noon the following day. Marko Baloh will be cycling for the entire 24 hours, while visitors can join him whenever they want, with no time restrictions. All anybody needs to take part in the challenge is adequate equipment and great spirits. Additional motivation will be provided by exclusive Jrobic Touring recordings of Jure Robič and Marko Baloh (RAAM&DOS). You will also be able to try out the special interactive On-Line ergo stationary bikes, which will be presented there for the first time by online shop Arkademik.si. However, a truly special charm will be given to this year’s event by the legendary Pony bike made by Rog. Its slightly modernised design was first presented in December 2016, and the first bikes will be available for purchase in March of this year.

The event is not meant only for cyclists – anyone can participate. This year, the traditional marathon cycling challenge will support the humanitarian organisation Association of Friends of Youth Moste-Polje. In the 24-hour time span of the event, visitors can take to the bikes themselves, or just hand in their contributions to the charitable collection of food with a longer shelf life, which is sure to help families in need.

All who wish to engage in some cycling this weekend should book in advance at the reception of Sports Centre Millenium or by calling +386 (0)1 585 15 00 (every day from 7 a.m. till 11 p.m.). Additional information on the 24-hour charity cycling event with Marko Baloh is available on his website and the event Facebook page. A live stream of the event with an accompanying studio programme featuring various participants will be available at www.vzivo.si.

Cycling has a special place in the BTC Company. The Company has supported ultramarathon cyclist Marko Baloh for several years, and his 24-hour charity cycling event for the 12th year in a row. A result of its efforts to advance Slovenian cycling was the first Slovenian professional women’s cycling team BTC City Ljubljana, which brings great joy to Slovenian fans of this dynamic sport with fantastic results in even the most prestigious international races. The team was co-founded by the BTC Company in 2014. The BTC Company also organises cycling events, first among them Marathon Franja BTC City. In 2017, this event, which is considered a true celebration of Slovenian cycling, will take place from July 9th till July 11th. This will be its 36th iteration.
