At the award show, which took place as part of the 15th annual Days of Energy Sources (“Dnevi energetikov”) between April 16th and April 17th in Portoro\u017e, the BTC company received a special award for its achievements in the field of efficient energy use, energy production from renewable sources and energy management. Winners of other awards in the field of energetics, known also as the energy Oscars of 2013, were: Ljubljanske mlekarne, Informa Echo and Protim R\u017ei\u0161nik Perc. The winners were chosen by a 5-member jury, with each member receiving a gift, a statue of the painter Dragica \u010cade\u017e Lapajne. <\/strong><\/P> The company’s energy policy, the main intent of which is not only to provide the company with a one-time reduction of energy use, but rather setting up a system which will lead to permanent reduction of energy use and the reduction of negative influences on the environment, represented the basis for the BTC company to acquire the international certificate ISO 50001-2011 in the middle of 2012, as one of the first companies in Slovenia. This standard gives organisations the ability to consistently and effectively manage energy. It represents an upgrade of the system of managing the environment according to the demands of the ISO 14001-2004 standard.<\/P> The BTC Company has three solar plants (two on the rooftop of the shopping centre in Murska Sobota and on the BTC Logistics centre, while there is also a solar plant on the fa\u0102\u00a7ade of the Crystal palace). Together they provide BTC with 2 million kWh of green energy per year. Other energy projects which have been realized by BTC over the past year show real intent of the company to constantly strive towards improvements in the field of energy efficiency. The company performed an optimization of the use of electric energy in the BTC Logistics centre along the street Letali\u0161ka cesta, in the scope of which they completely removed the old energetically inefficient inner and outer lighting. This brought positive results, since the company saved 524,180kWh in a year, while the BTC Company’s CO² emission will also be lowered by 230 tonnes per year. <\/P> There are also preparations under way to modernize the lighting systems in the shopping centres BTC City in Ljubljana, Novo mesto and Murska Sobota, which should save an additional 305,348 kWh of electricity per year and reduce the yearly emission of CO² by another 213 tons.<\/P> BTC invested 1.5 million Euro in its energy projects in 2012.<\/P> Additional information:<\/strong><\/P> Maja Oven, Director of the Market Communication and Public Relations Sector<\/P>
