BTC has once again this year received recognition for its commitment to sustainable development, having been awarded the Green Star sustainability certificate – presented by CER – Sustainable Business Network – for the fifth year running. This certificate once again confirms that BTC successfully integrates sustainability principles into its business operations and consistently meets its environmental, social and governance (ESG) targets.

With the four-star Green Star rating for the year 2025, BTC has once again been ranked among the Green Leaders. This means that sustainability is firmly embedded in its business strategy, that it achieves measurable results in implementing sustainable solutions, and that it actively collaborates with various stakeholders in its efforts to achieve climate neutrality.

At BTC, sustainability is understood as a key part of the long-term development strategy. In recent years, the company has carried out numerous projects in the fields of energy efficiency, sustainable mobility, responsible land management and circular economy. Notable achievements include the development of green spaces in BTC City Ljubljana, the expansion of infrastructure for sustainable mobility, investments in energy-efficient buildings and logistics facilities and numerous projects aimed at raising awareness and involving employees, partners and the wider community in sustainability initiatives.

The Green Star certificate is based on internationally recognised standards and European legislation and it includes a comprehensive ESG assessment and an assessment of climate action. It provides organisations with an insight into their level of sustainability maturity and encourages systematic planning for further improvements.

Upon receiving the certificate, Patrick Vesel, PhD, Director of the Sustainable Development Sector at BTC pointed out: “The renewal of our four-star Green Star certificate confirms that sustainability remains one of the key guiding principles supporting BTC’s development. We are proud that, through long-term projects and concrete measures, we are creating positive impacts on the environment, society and the economy, and that, together with our stakeholders, we are helping to shape a more sustainable future.”

The certificate represents significant recognition of the work carried out to date and provides further encouragement for the continued pursuit of sustainability goals, through which BTC is consolidating its role as one of the leading drivers of sustainable development in Slovenia.
