The 16th Festival of shopping and fun will take place on Saturday, 15 October, and Sunday, 16 October 2011, in BTC City Ljubljana. Once again, festival organizers have tried their best to prepare a varied and interesting accompanying program consisting of different activities. Visitors of all ages will be able to participate in different sports and entertainment activities, sweepstakes, etc., and performances of popular Slovenian musicians will make the festival an even more entertaining experience. The main events will take place at the main venue between Hall A and the BTC City market place. Other events will be held in the “Trg mladih” square, in the Crystal Palace Shopping gallery, as well as at the SiTi Theatre, at the BTC City market place, in the Lingula Language Centre, and on the lower floor of Emporium. Customers of all shops in BTC City Ljubljana will receive discounts and special offers during the festival.

The 16th Festival of shopping and fun will start this Saturday at 10.30 am at the main venue with the presentation of the Tilia Olimpija ice-hockey team. On both Saturday and Sunday, the program will continue at the main venue throughout the day. Festival visitors will have the opportunity to see a live fashion show, an animated dance performance of the Kazina dance school, and performances of Slovenian stand-up comedians. The organizers have also prepared various sweepstakes and many other activities. 

A performance by Langa, a Slovenian musical group, will take place on the concert stage at the main venue on Saturday, 15 October, at 02.00 pm, and Magnifico’s big concert will start at 08.00 pm on the same stage. Radio Sora folk ensembles will present themselves at the main venue on Sunday, 16 October, between 12.00 and 02.00 pm, and their performances will be followed by an accordion competition. The festival will conclude with musical performances by Lucienne Lončina and Daniel Rampret (the Slovenian Joe Cocker), and with the big Sunday sweepstake prize drawing. 

This year’s festival will also offer theatrical performances at the SiTi Theatre. “Prava princeska”, a multimedia performance for children, will be held there on Saturday, 15 October, at 11.00 am, and TV presenter and actor Lado Bizovičar will entertain adults with his monocomedy “Fotr”, which will start at 08.00 pm. Sunday, 16 October, will also be a great day for theatre lovers, as they will have the opportunity to see an intimate comedy-drama featuring actors Jernej Šugman, Maša Derganc and Uroš Fürst. The comedy-drama, entitled “Prevara”, will start at 08.00 pm at the SiTi Theatre.

Festival activities will also take place in the Shopping gallery in Crystal Palace. On Saturday, 15 October, visitors of the highest building in Slovenia will be able to see a big fashion show and a musical performance by Katja Koren at 12.00.

The Festival of shopping and fun will also impress young and old fans of vintage cars with its exhibition of vintage cars and motorcycles, which will be held between 09.00 am and 02.00 pm at the BTC City market place.


The “Trg mladih” square will turn into a real Cyber world offering two days of fun for fans of computer games and gaming platforms. Wii tournaments will be held on Saturday and Sunday between 11.00 am and 05.00 pm, and dance lovers will have the opportunity to participate in an Arcade dance competition. Fans of electronic games will also have plenty of fun. 

Children’s program will again take place on the lower floor of Emporium, where a new children’s sports-entertainment and educational centre “Beti in Cej” opened in March this year. This weekend, the youngest visitors of BTC City will have fun participating in play sessions with Beti and Cej. They will create dough hedgehogs on Saturday at 04.00 pm. On both Saturday and Sunday, they will be able to enjoy performances by Zvezdice at 10.30 am, and see a magic show prepared by magician Jole Cole at 11.00 am. In addition to the merrymaking in Emporium, your little ones will have the opportunity to participate in free English fairytale hours, which will take place on Saturday, 15 October, between 02.00 pm and 03.30 pm in the Lingula Language Centre, where a free English language workshop for older participants will also be held at the same time.
