A modern design and sustainability were the main principles behind an extensive renovation of the Interspar store in BTC City Murska Sobota. After 4 months of renovations, the store opened its doors again on 25 August. A modern look with glass facade, wooden jutting roof and modern interior will provide visitors with an excellent shopping experience.

The total renovation investment, comprising the renovation of the store’s interior and exterior, amounts to 5 million Euro. This is the third large Spar Slovenija’s investment in BTC City Murska Sobota since the store’s opening in 1998. On Thursday, 26 August, Damjan Kralj, M.Sc., CEO at BTC, Jože Mermal, Chairman of the Board of Directors at BTC, along with their team visited the renovated store and were joined during the visit also by Jure Petkovšek, Finance and Economics Director at SPAR Slovenija.

The interior of the Interspar store offers themed sections in new locations, whereas only the news stand remains in the same place. In the centre of the store, there is Pekarna Spar bakery and a market with a varied offer of fresh fruits and vegetables. At the entrance, you can find a wide array of cosmetics and non-food items, while an extensive offer of dairy and frozen products can be found at the back of the store. Shoppers will be greeted by a few novelties, e.g. a sushi bar; at the same time, some good practices were preserved – freshly squeezed orange juice is available in the centre of the store. Shoppers can grab a quick snack in the SPAR To Go section which is part of the renovated deli.

Both, BTC and Spar Slovenija strive toward sustainability and energy efficiency. Therefore, they equipped their renovated store with energy-efficient LED-lighting and refrigerators, a wooden-pellet furnace, a new environment-friendly cooling system and machines for collecting recyclable packaging.
