On Saturday, 28th September, between 9 am and 3 pm, the autumn event “Potato day” (“Krompirjev dan”) will take place on the parking lot in front of the BTC City Marketplace. The event, which aims to promote a healthy diet, will proceed in the spirit of potato. Visitors will be able to participate in educational workshops, as potato farmers will put on display autochthonous varieties of Slovenian potato and other specialities made from this vegetable.

At the event, visitors will have the chance to try out various potato foods, enjoy the culinary delights of farms from the Škofja Loka hills as well as the meaty goods of Bohinj, dried on the smoke of beech tree firewood, and relish the tasty specialities from the Karst region, dried and ripened on the karst bora winds. It will also be possible to try out autochthonous varieties of Slovenian onion (“Ptujski luk”, “Belokranjski žbul”) and autochthonous varieties of Slovenian potato.

The event will also offer participation in workshops, where visitors will learn how to make traditional culinary specialities, such as the “idrijski žlikrofi”, “njoki” and “krompirjevi polpeti” (potato burgers), under the guidance of expert chefs.

Healthy diet advisor Marija Merljak will talk about the importance of potato in a healthy diet, while the entertainment part of the event will be spruced up by the cowboy song dancers of the Colorado Country Line Dance.
