Desire

In 2022, in cooperation with the CER Partnership for a Sustainable Economy, the BTC Company joined the European project DESIRE – Designing the Irresistible Circular Society – which focuses on finding solutions aimed at designing sustainable cities.

The two-year project, whose lead partner is the Danish Bloxhub, includes 24 partners from five European countries. Within the framework of the project, project partners are tackling the main challenges facing societies and cities today: climate change, biodiversity loss and resource depletion. With its sustainable and innovative solutions aimed at improving the environment and the overall quality of life, the project will support the European Union’s mission to reach 100 climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030.

BTC City is an excellent pilot test environment for the implementation of new solutions that will show how to improve the quality of life and reduce the impact of cities on climate change. As a result, the green upgrade of the BTC City area in Ljubljana will become an example of good sustainable practice in the region also through international cooperation.

DESIRE is one of 5 projects selected by the European Commission in a tender worth 25 million euro to support the development of demonstrator projects of the New European Bauhaus (NEB).
