Čezsoča and Bovec airport today hosted a social gathering organised by BTC for the inhabitants of this region. In July this year the Posočje region was once again hit by an earthquake that damaged many houses and left several families without a roof over their heads. As in 1998, when this region suffered its last earthquake, BTC will help some families residing in the area through a donation. Besides material help, the inhabitants also need a few moments of happiness so BTC organised a social gathering where they could, at least for one afternoon, forget about their problems.

At 2 p.m. the representatives of BTC, Jože Mermal, President of the Management Board and Danijel Krivic, the Mayor of Bovec visited the home of the Hosner family who received BTC’s help for repairing their home after the 1998 earthquake. After a donation to four new families effected by this year’s earthquake was announced, the Hosner family and everyone in attendance were invited to witness the signing of the related contracts at the Vančar restaurant, which was also damaged by the earthquake.

The party continued at Bovec airport which saw the BTC balloon Ajda 3 officially launched at 6 p.m. by Jože Mermal, President of the BTC Management Board, who also spoke of the history of ballooning. Gregor Trček, the balloon’s pilot, took some visitors for a short trip with the balloon. BTC helped spread happiness among the primary school children of Bovec who had their first day at school. As soon as the Kulturni dom Bovec is repaired residents of the Posočje region will be able to see the play ‘Shirley Valentine’ directed by Polona Vetrih and produced by Teater Komedija BTC, which is a present from BTC to this region which has suffered so greatly.
