Workout with the latest fitness equipment

Ljubljana, 8 September 2005 – Today the Millenium sports centre in BTC City Ljubljana is throwing open the doors to its upgraded fitness centre. The centre prides itself on its state-of-the-art Precor and Air Machine equipment, as well as its new aerobics centre. Millenium is celebrating its 6th anniversary. To mark the occasion it is organising ‘Open Days’ from 12 September to 15 September by providing aerobics and workout facilities free of charge.

The Millenium sports centre is one of the most attractive and prestigious sports centres in all of Slovenia. It opened up its doors to the general public on 13 September 1999. Due to growth in visitor numbers and stronger demand, the very first year of its operation revealed a need to expand the centre’s facilities. Saunas, gyms, changing rooms and massage parlours have all been extended. In order to provide undisturbed aerobics classes the centre bought out the neighbouring ŠKL premises. Today, we can enjoy an upgraded fitness and aerobics centre.

The Millenium sports centre has six tennis courts, a badminton court, a fitness centre, numerous saunas (Finnish, Turkish and infra saunas), a jacuzzi, aerobic programmes, a massage parlour and a small swimming pool. These are found in the central hall. Besides this hall, the Millenium sports centre also offers squash and indoor golf facilities, aerobics and the Kalipso wellness centre. Every single day 600 to 650 people visit the centre. In the high season it sometimes attracts more than 700 visitors a day. The regular programmes offered at the centre are enriched with traditional annual events such as the legends of Slovenian sports tennis tournament, the journalists’ national indoor tennis championships etc.

The fitness centre provides fitness equipment new to the Slovenian market that is manufactured by the American company Precor. Hydraulic equipment also used for health and rehabilitation purposes by the renowned Italian brand Air Machine is also a novelty at Millenium. The aerobic programme is further enhanced by Spinning Exercise – exercise on Precor bikes in water, Stretch Fit – a combination of stretching exercises, and Balance Fit – exercise with elements of the martial arts.

Also new to Millenium is the IZOMED injury prevention centre, led by a renowned physician specialising in work, sports and transport medicine, Ph.D. Edvin Derviševič, Dr. Med., an assistant at the Faculty of Sports in Ljubljana and a visiting lecturer at Anhui, the college of traditional medicine in China. Physicians, physiotherapists and sports experts at IZOMED will assist your physical recovery at a highly professional level.

The Millenium sports centre is celebrating its 6th anniversary. Come and enjoy all of its new activities free of charge at its Open Days from 12 to 15 September.
